Five-Year Boy's-Eye View of the Rebellion Festivals

I’ve often been told a five-year-old could do my job, and this year, we decided to put that theory to the test with our newest Rebellion correspondent. Meet James the Kid. James is a Rebellion regular; he comes every year with his dad. This year, though, he had his own camera. His dad joked that most of his shots were of the backs of people, but the truth is James found his hole and got some cracking photos, and I was genuinely impressed with more than a few of his shoots. I was also quite taken by his review; it was actually better written and had fewer spelling errors than we’re used to. The boy got all the facts right—but more importantly, the little bugger got the shots.

“I saw Los Fastidios the Acoustic Stage and they were very good and they played Antifa Hooligans.”

I mean, what more needs to be said? But the editors wanted a little more detail, so we had James’s dad ask him a few questions.
He also got a good shot her husband, co-lead singer, Enrico, of Los Fastidios—Photo Courtesy of James the Kid
Dad: So, is that your favorite song by them? (Antifa Holigans—Los Fasridios)
James: Yeah,
Dad: Did you sing along?
James: Mhm

Dad: What else did you do while you were watching them?
James: Danced.
Dad: You danced! What else did you do?
James: Took photos.
Dad: Did you take lots of photos?
James: Yeah.
Sometimes his height was a disadvantage, like in this photo of Xray Vez—Photo Courtesy of James the Kid
Dad: And who is your favorite band?
James: Actually, Los Fastidios, The Bolokos, and The Barstool Preachers.
Other times it gave a totally different perspective, like in this photo of Maisie Jo and The Rogans—Photo courtesy of James the Kid
Dad: You’ve got three favorites? Oh wow! Did you see all of them at Rebellion?
James: Yeah.
Dad: Did you dance to all of them?
James: Yeah.
He found his mark, like in this photo of the bass player of Maisie Jo and The Rogans—Photo courtesy of James the Kid
.Dad: So, if “Antifa Hooligans” is your favorite Los Fastidios song, what’s your favorite Barstool Preachers song?
James: “Barstool Preacher.”

Dad: And what did the Blokos do that was nice to you?
James: Gave me their drumsticks.

Dad: Nice! So, did you enjoy Rebellion this year?
James: Mhm. And my favorite one, Blockos, is white rum.
Dad: Oh, that was your favorite Blockos song. Very good What did you enjoy most about rebellion? What made you happiest there?
James: Taking photos.
And big extra points because no Rebellion coverage is official until Bob Campbell ends up in one of the photos. Bob seemed thrilled to be sharing the pit with James. I think the kid even told him to move, as he was blocking the Blokos. Bob is a much better door than a window. —Photo Courtesy of James the Kid
Dad: Yeah, you took lots, didn’t you? Did you get any good ones?
James: Yeah.
Dad: What did you get lots of? Did you get lots of the backs of people because it’s hard to see over them?
James: Yeah.
Dad: But it’s still good fun?
James: Yeah.
Joke all you like, Dad, but he caught a good one of you dancing to the Blokos—Photo Courtesy of James the Kid
Dad: Anything else you want to say about Rebellion or what was good?
James: [Shakes head no.]
Dad: But you had a really good festival?
James: Yeah.

Dad: Now are you going to go draw a picture of a band?
James: Maybe.
Dad: And do you know who Johnny Rotten is?
James: [Shakes head no.]
He caught all three of the Doll Heads and all these other heads as well— Photo Courtesy of James the Kid
Dad: No? Remember in your book about what it said about what is punk?
James: [Shakes head no.]
From the look of it, James was right up on the rail for the Barstool Preachers
.
Dad: You remember? No? You’re not interested, are you? because he’s not one of your favorites, ?
James: [Shakes head no.]
The kid has an eye for finding the hole. like it in shot of Buster Shuffle
Dad: Do you think he’s maybe a bit old and washed up? (Editor's note: Objection, your honor that is a leading question.)
James: Yeah.
Dad: You like the new bands, don’t you—because they’re much more fun? Yeah? or no?
James: Yeah!
For a print-to-order company, the shirts are surprisingly good quality and probably made by children about James’s same age
