A fan-made creation becomes the official visual for one of the hardest-hitting tracks on Stockholm Syndrome
Legendary ska-punk-funk pioneers Fishbone take an unflinching look at the music business in their latest video release for the song "Dog Eat Dog" from their critically acclaimed album Stockholm Syndrome.
The video began as a fan-created project that the band found too compelling to ignore, choosing to release it as the official
Dog Eat Dog digs into the highs, lows, and heartbreaks of the industry’s shadow side. The honeymoon phase, the crash, and the fight to reclaim ownership and independence. It is a cycle that has ended the careers of less tenacious artists than Fishbone.
The track mirrors the band’s own history. Early success, major label backing, and then the moment when the industry decides it has taken what it wants. Debts from the never-ending party fall on the artist, who then gets walked to the exit. Fishbone knows the humiliation of reclaiming the rights to their own music, along with the modern struggle of streaming and surviving as independent artists.

It is a story as old as the industry itself. Early African American musicians, the very foundation of rock and roll, were robbed blind by operators offering one-sided contracts under the glow of the spotlight. If any band has earned the right to call out the grime beneath the sequins, it is Fishbone.
Angelo Moore says, “This song is about reclaiming the artist’s master recordings and publishing through a preemptive legal strike. It tells the story of how an artist can gain the rights to their own music after signing what seemed like a contract in perpetuity.”
Christopher Dowd adds, “We have all heard this story of grift and gaming. The road to the top is filled with shattered dreams, bad breaks, and setbacks. Dog Eat Dog is the fight to reclaim an artist’s legacy.”

Dog Eat Dog continues Fishbone’s long tradition of telling the truth without B S. Stockholm Syndrome pushes that legacy even further with fearless lyrics and sharp commentary on the state of America at a time when most artists avoid the subject entirely.

The video arrives as Stockholm Syndrome continues to collect praise for its fierce blend of punk, funk, ska, soul, and fire. Classic Rock Magazine called it the band’s strongest work in decades. The group features Angelo Moore on vocals and saxophones, Christopher Dowd on keyboards, trombone, and vocals, James Jones on bass, Hassan Hurd on drums, John JS Williams the second on trumpet and vocals, and Tracey Spacey T Singleton on guitar. The band is already creating new music and planning a 2026 tour.
